It's September 2nd, which means summer is pretty much coming to a close. *sniff, tear* It's been a pretty epic summer for us. Lots of time at the beach, lots of weekend trips to Eugene, lots of sunshine. James had a ton of fun in his baby pool, going on playdates with his many girlfriends, helping me pick tomatoes and eating lots of blueberries. Blueberries are both Adam and James's favorite fruit. Our little boy is climbing and crawling and cruising all over the house like he owns the place, which he basically does. Anyway, here are some summer favs...

Swear to god these two do actually participate in activities that involve having their clothes on... |

James meets my cousin Estevan who visited from Southern California. This picture is so special and precious to me...they totally adored each other. |

One of the most special events of the summer was Elsie's 1st birthday party in Eugene. It was James's first official "friend" birthday party and he got all dressed up in his Guayabera shirt for the occasion. Elsie was adorable and being the amazing 1 year-old that she is, wanted absolutely nothing to do with cake and couldn't get enough of the wrapping paper and boxes her gifts came in!

Taste testing Elsie's birthday toys...just making sure they haven't gone bad. |

Liz and sweet Elsie girl, who had no interest in cake with all the fun to be had in the park. |
Ok - so we've been doing photo shoots each month with James to show how much he's grown, and this was our toughest one yet. He is a man on the move, and pretty much never sits still! I did my best, and this is what we got at 8 months.
Oh, and another stalker mom crib shot, just for good measure. This must have been back in July, before we dropped the crib down. I really miss having a bumper (safety hazard since James can use it to climb on now, bummer!) and miss being able to put him down almost still cradled in my arms. We didn't plan on this white teddy bear being James's (it's actually mine) but he just started using in the crib and it became kind of important. His bear is now his crib buddy and he frequently falls asleep with him cuddled in his arms. It is SO sweet.

James does Italian |
Four of Adam's friends from the bay area came up to Portland for the Seattle to Portland bike ride, and stayed with us for a few days. It was a ton of fun. Though, I have to say, having four extra folks around the house for days on end made our house feel empty and huge after they left. We met them at the finish line of the ride, and two of them hadn't yet met James so it was a pretty fun finish. It was really nice to have a few extra hands around to help with James and play with him - and James kept looking around the house quizzically after they left. Anyway, lots of beer drinking, late nights hanging out in our backyard fire pit, and catching up. Good times.

Trav getting his gear together to climb Mt. Adams. James could not stop trying to eat his climbing gear! |
This is what happens when you leave James in the bathroom and turn your head for a few seconds...

Someone obviously doesn't care much about the environment, or the cost of toilet paper! *ahem, ahem, James* |
